Letter Offering Tax Assistance During Coronavirus

April 02, 2020

Dear Client,

I hope you and your loved ones are safe, healthy, and remain that way throughout this unprecedented time. If there is anything I may do to help you, your family, or your friends, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I would be happy to provide insights, perspectives, and advice to help ease the concerns of those you care about.

By now you may be aware that the IRS has pushed back the federal tax-filing deadline from April 15 to July 15, 2020, for everyone, with no penalty, no need to file anything prior to July 15, and the option to file for an extension past the July 15 deadline. (However, this applies only to your federal taxes; some state-tax filing deadlines have been adjusted, but details vary from state to state, so please call the office for more information). As is typically the case, if you believe you will need to file for an extension, you will still need to pay your estimated taxes by July 15.

Of course, if you are expecting a refund, you can still file your taxes now. While the IRS has scaled back some of their services, they are still processing tax returns.

Please remember that I am always here to help, and in what has become a challenging time for many, I am happy to extend that offer of assistance to your friends and family. For specific advice about your taxes or filling out tax documents, you should contact your accountant or tax preparer, but feel free to reach out to me with your other tax-related financial questions or, of course, to address any other concerns such as market volatility, budgeting, potential avenues of financial relief, how to handle a job loss or reduced employment, or anything else on your mind.

However I may help calm any anxiety or re-instill confidence in your financial path forward will be time well spent. Just call or email me, and if need be, we can set up a video chat to discuss things in more detail.

Take care, and I hope to see you in person soon once we get through this strange moment in time.

Regards,

Jay A. Ramey
